Black Hawk College East Campus located in Galva, Illinois has an opening for a director of the veterinary technology program in a full-time tenure-track position. The program director provides leadership and organization of all aspects of the academic program. Responsibilities include managing academic quality, supervision of the facilities, monitoring animal welfare and addressing students' needs. Knowledge of the professional field and job opportunities available to graduates is necessary to translate industry changes into innovative program curriculum. The position possesses direct responsibility for meeting all programmatic accreditation regulations and submitting required accreditation documentation. The director is required to devote a percentage of their time to classroom teaching and to provide a positive and effective learning environment. Visionary leadership skills are necessary to provide a diversified learning experience and an environment of positive social interaction. Duties & Responsibilities – Administrative Review and approve course content, overall curriculum, and assessment measures for accuracy, appropriateness and vigor Participate in college governance, committees and task forces Participate in recruiting, hiring committees, staffing and mentoring of faculty Coordinate new faculty orientation and program-specific orientations for students in their program Participate in off-campus community-oriented events Plan and facilitate advisory board meetings; manage resulting data for program improvement Develop and manage annual program budget Monitor program equipment to assure industry relevance Supervise the supply chain for classroom, laboratory and clinical needs Generate faculty scheduling within the program Develop and maintain quality external partnerships for off-campus clinical experiences, preceptor and internship sites Organize textbook orders and monitor textbook accuracy Ensure continuing education to deliver program-specific training to the faculty and staff Prepare and submit required accreditation documentation accurately and on time Comply with accreditation mandates Prepare accreditation reports and reviews as required by the program Supervise AVMA - CVTEA site visits Maintain accurate and comprehensive medical records on all animals that are either housed in or visit the clinical facilities.
