Description
Albany County Veterinary Hospital is looking for a full-time Companion Animal Veterinarian. We are a 3-doctor clinic in the town of Guilderland, across the street from SUNY Albany, Stuyvesant Plaza, and Crossgates Mall. Albany is an hour and a half South of the Adirondack Mountain Park, 2 hours and 45 minutes North of New York City by train, bus, or car, and about an hour West of New York’s borders with Vermont and Massachusetts. We are a small, privately owned neighborhood clinic with an outstanding legacy and local reputation. Our clientele ranges from the city proper to the outlying suburban and even semi-rural districts, which are within a half-hour to forty-minute drive.
The office is open from 8 AM to 5 PM on weekdays and 8 to 12 PM on Saturdays. We are covered during closed hours by two excellent, full-service, 24-7 local emergency and specialty clinics. The work week alternates between four and four-and-a-half days or approximately 35-40 hours per week. We have a boarded Veterinary surgeon available who visits our clinic to perform advanced or orthopedic surgical procedures. We perform ultrasound, echocardiography, both dental and conventional digital radiography, and Companion laser therapy, and we do both extensive in-house (Idexx) and outside laboratory work.
We have four Licensed Veterinary Technicians and a full complement of client service and assistant staff. We had one of the lowest staff turnover rates in the Capital District during and after COVID, with more than a few members on our team for decades. We focus on compassionate, non-judgemental communication while offering every client the full spectrum of care for their pet.
For the right individual, we will provide:
A competitive base and production-based salary commensurate with experience (22% of production, excluding prescription products and boarding)
Fully paid single coverage health care enrollment through a major local carrier
Disability insurance coverage
Paid vacation time (amount negotiable)
Paid major holidays, sick, and personal time
CE allowance and paid time off for CE
Paid license fees, dues, uniform allowance, and pet care at hospital cost
Retirement plan with 3% matching contribution
We are looking for a candidate with a New York State License, a sense of humor, and a strong desire to engage and learn, as well as a strong work ethic. The practice owner of 19 years is motivated to mentor a new graduate, and even a buy-in down the road is a possibility!
