- VCA Advanced Veterinary Care Center (AVCC) is a 24-hour Emergency and Specialty hospital with a collaborative, multi-disciplinary team committed to practicing cutting-edge medicine. You’ll join a tenured group of 9 emergency doctors and specialists across Internal Medicine, Ophthalmology, Neurology, Oncology, Radiology, Surgery, Rehabilitation, and more—all dedicated to providing the most comprehensive patient care.
- Our 30,000 sq. ft. facility is fully equipped with advanced technology, including a 1.5 Tesla MRI, 64-Slice CT, linear accelerator, fluoroscopy, multiple ultrasound units, YAG laser, electrodiagnostic equipment, full endoscopy, and two underwater treadmills. With 16 exam rooms and dedicated diagnostic spaces, you’ll have the tools you need to provide exceptional care.

Schedule
- Swing-only position
- 2 PM to 12 AM
- 11 shifts per month (10-hour shifts)
- Rotating schedule allows for extended time off—blocks up to 7 consecutive days
- No more than 4 days on in a row
- Weekend coverage shared equally among swing ER doctors (1/3 of weekends)
- Always supported—overlap with both day and overnight doctors ensures you’re never alone on shift
- This unique schedule supports a true work-life balance, giving you both variety and the freedom of longer breaks throughout the month.
Cases
As an Emergency Veterinarian at VCA AVCC, you’ll see a diverse and challenging caseload, including:
- Trauma and critical care
- Acute illnesses such as respiratory distress, vomiting/diarrhea, or seizures
- Toxicities and urgent metabolic disorders
- Advanced imaging cases in collaboration with specialty departments
- Surgery is not required, but doctors with surgical skills—or those eager to learn—are encouraged, as we aim to expand ER surgical capabilities.
- With access to specialists across numerous disciplines, you’ll have the support, mentorship, and resources to practice advanced medicine and provide the best outcomes for your patients.

Compensation
- Salary is negotiable based on experience, skills, knowledge, abilities and other relevant credentials. The salary range listed is based on a 40-hour work week.
- This position may also be eligible for other variable pay programs.

Qualifications
- A Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree, from an accredited university or equivalent
- Licensure in good standing to practice in (IN), or the ability to obtain
- A commitment to practicing the highest standard of medicine and upholding the veterinary code of ethics
