- Veterinary Medical Officer, Senior
Description
The Veterinarian Medical Officer, Senior serves as a state expert and program coordinator in a specialized area of veterinary medicine. Incumbent is responsible for the evaluation and improvement of programs and operational activities designed to prevent or eliminate threats to Idaho agriculture from emerging or newly introduced diseases of domestic or wildlife animals. This position is primarily in support of Idaho's production animals/livestock industries with an emphasis towards dairy and beef cattle.
The position location is preferred to be in the Boise area but will consider other locations in Southern Idaho (Twin Falls/Burley) and Eastern (Idaho Falls), depending on the successful candidate. Requirements
Current or temporary Idaho Veterinary License or have passed the National Board Exam and the Clinical Competency Test (CCT), or the North American Veterinary Licensing Examination (NAVLE) and are eligible for a temporary Idaho Veterinary license.
Considerable knowledge of diseases of domestic and other animals and diagnostic procedures. Experience detecting and diagnosing animal diseases
Experience developing disease control strategies.
