We are seeking an independent, compassionate Veterinary Criticalist or Emergency Veterinarian to join our team as ER Chief of Staff. Due to our Emergency Rooms significant growth over the last 3 years we need to add a Chief of Staff to ensure our guiding principles of high-quality patient care, communication, mentoring, and all-around respect and compassion is shared by everyone at the practice. We have invested time and effort in order to maintain a high level of quality veterinary medicine and high-quality customer care while continuing to establish strong relationships with the local veterinarian community and increasing our marketing efforts. Enforcing a strict policy in regard to referral cases is essential in order to maintain trust by the local referral rDVMs. High quality emergency services combined with specific specialty services, such as internal medicine, surgery, critical care, dentistry cardiology, hyperbarics create an attractive option for local referring veterinarians. This Chief of Staff will maintain appropriate referral rDVM communications, excellent customer care and high quality veterinary medicine while growing the case load of the practice. This leader will be advising our team while working in conjunction with management and partners to establish policies and maintaining staffing needs. d to be about 20%-30% leadership duties and 70%-80% veterinarian duties. We are a 24-hour GP and ER small animal practice with 14 doctors and a large staff serving our clients in the Boca Raton, FL area for the past 20+ years. Our 10,000 square foot state-of-the-art facility is unlike any other in the area. In addition to diagnostic and preventative services, our hospital is equipped with digital radiography (standard and dental) , Full Idexx in-house labs, CO2 cutting laser, endoscopy, rhinoscopy, bronchoscopy, 2 diagnostic ultrasound machines, hyperbaric oxygen chamber, complete rehab center (offering acupuncture and rehab) with heated therapy pool, K-laser therapy, underwater treadmill, and therapeutic ultrasound. Leadership Responsibilities: - Follow CVC protocols and responsibilities for ensuring that associates achieve high standards. Train the team on IVECC’s guidelines and practices and supervise associates to ensure compliance.
- Direct, lead and mentor Associate ER Veterinarians to realize their full professional potential and deliver outstanding, high quality medical care to the client. Inspirational leadership to the team by creating a positive professional relationship.
- Identify potential problems and formulate solutions to remove barriers in medical operations that would impede the doctors from providing efficient and high veterinary care.
- Meet with the GP Hospital Partners, Chief of Nursing Staff and Practice Managers to interview, select, train, develop, coach and mentor hospital associates. Ensure that development of technical and medical skills for veterinary assistants/technicians are in place.
- Effectively create and maintain ER veterinarians’ schedules and work with Practice Managers and Nursing Leads to schedule associates to meet CVC needs, while proactively planning time off and CE scheduling.
- Provide effective communication between associates and referral rDVMs. Effectively resolve CVC and referral rDVM issues, by acting as communications liaison.
- Hold routine hospital team meetings, sharing hospital information and messaging to all ER hospital associates, ensuring they remain informed, engaged and have opportunities to provide feedback.
- Participate in developing annual planning, budgeting and hospital productivity levels for the hospital in partnership with management and partners.
- Identify and facilitate hiring of specialists that will enhance CVC
Clinical Veterinarian Responsibilities: - Maintain a 3–4-day schedule in order to provide emergency and critical care service to the CVC operation.
- Lead the veterinary hospital team through the daily schedule and caseload, delegating tasks to paraprofessionals and improving hospital efficiency.
- Identify pitfalls during clinical activities (M&M Rounds) and bring solutions proposals to the table.

Requirements: - State Veterinary Board License must be in good standing for the state in which they intend to be hired, prior to their start date.
- DVM, VMD or equivalent degree
