Turquoise Trail Veterinary Urgent Care is looking for our 3rd full-time veterinarian! We opened our practice at the beginning of November with two founding doctors, and we'd love to start talking with interested candidates now for a target hire date in April or May of 2025.
Life stuff. We're in Santa Fe, New Mexico. That means 300+ days of sun a year, four seasons, and easy access to all kinds of rad outdoor activities. The food here is great, the cultural activities (museums, art, etc.) are great, and the nightlife... is not so great. Sorry. We can't have everything.
Work stuff. The hospital is brand-new, which means all the equipment is, too! We're currently open to walk-in patients 9 AM to 8 PM, Friday through Sunday, and to appointments- scheduled rechecks and procedures, primarily- on Monday and Tuesday. With a third doctor, our goals would be to extend walk-in hours into Monday and Tuesday AND make sure everyone doesn't have to work every weekend day. Getting on board at this point in the growth of the practice means you'd have the opportunity to weigh in on how that growth takes place. The more opinions, the better! And we are very stoked about adding an outside perspective.
Scope of practice... stuff. Our caseload ranges from fairly straightforward outpatient care (diarrhea, ear and skin stuff, etc.) to complicated workups for medical issues, and even abdominal surgery on a fairly regular basis. Our doctors frequently perform multiple sedated procedures- for lacerations, torn nails, and similar issues- during the course of a single shift, so experience with (and/or enthusiasm for) that kind of thing is highly desirable.
Benefits stuff. In addition to the salary, we're offering full medical, dental, vision, life, AD&D; there's CE allowance, paid CE time, and vacation/sick time, too.
Questions? Just holler. Any one of the co-founders will be happy to chat with you for as long as you want. Thanks for looking, and we're excited to meet you!
Turquoise Trail Vet provides medical care to northern New Mexico cats and dogs on a first-come, first-served basis. Our service is patterned on the human urgent care model, providing walk-in outpatient care to pets who are sick and need treatment sooner than later, but aren’t suffering from immediately life-threatening conditions. Since our hospital is staffed and equipped specifically for this purpose, we can do so more efficiently than a traditional veterinary clinic and more cost-effectively than an emergency hospital. Our mission is twofold: achieve the highest standard of compassionate veterinary medical care for cats or dogs with urgent medical issues, and involve our clients in the creation of a care plan that best fits their needs and those of their pets. Our company is locally-owned and -operated; in fact, all three founders work in the practice every day! Our ~4,000 square foot facility is brand new (we opened November 1st, 2024) and equipped with state-of-the-art point-of-care diagnostics (lab work, ultrasound, and x-ray) and other equipment.
